Kate’s Kitchen with Teens: Gotta Love Hamburgers with Sweet Potato Fries
Welcome to Kate’s Kitchen with Teens.
We have three words for you: YUM, YUM & YUM!
Servings: 4 burgers
What you need:
1 pound lean ground beef (90% or more)
Lowry’s salt
4 slices American cheese, optional
Pat ¼ of the meat into a rounded patty; do this with rest of the meat to make 4 patties. Work the meat as little as possible–it will be juicier this way. Sprinkle with Lowry’s salt on both sides. On a griddle pan, cook over medium-high heat for about 7 minutes, then flip. Done when the meat is firm and the juices run clear. If you like a cheese burger, add to the hamburger for the last minute of cooking.
Sweet Potato Fries
2 large sweet potatoes
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Kosher salt
Preheat the oven to 450° F. Peel the potato (or leave the skin on); if you wash the skin, make sure to dry it completely before adding other ingredients. Cut the sweet potato in half. Take one half and cut ¾” slices; do this for the other half too. Cut the slices into ½” fries. In a Ziploc bag, add the potato fries, the olive oil, salt and pepper. Zip closed and shake the ingredients to coat the potatoes. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray and place the fries—you want them evenly spaced and not touching. Bake for 15 minutes; turn the potatoes over and bake for another 10 minutes.
