Kate’s Kitchen with Kids: Water That’s Better Than Water
Most children do not drink 7-9 glasses of water each day and are drawn to sodas, fruit juice and sports drinks – all which contribute to an abundance of health issues. Do you want your family to drink more water? Here is an inexpensive way to enjoy water at home (or when hosting get-togethers) that will be a sure-fire hit with everyone!
Ingredients:
* Your favorite fruit (oranges, watermelon, blueberries, cucumbers – anything!)
* Water
* Ice (to keep chilled)
Preparation:
Fill a large jug with water 3/4 full.
If using oranges, cut oranges in think slices.
If using Watermelon: cut into 2 inch chunks
If using Berries: Just toss them in the water
If using Cucumbers: Cut into thin slices. Add mint leaves for extra flavor.
Add fruit to water.
Add ice if you need to keep water chilled. Let the fruit sit in the water between 30 minutes to 3 hours. The longer the fruit sits in the water, the more vibrant the flavor. Serve and enjoy!
